Strategic portfolio optimization: WEKA discontinues TLI IndustryLine…
In our series: Product lines in focus, we alternately present the most important features and characteristics of our product lines from our two business areas.
In the area of level measurement technology, today's topic is "Level Switches" our float switches for safe, point level detection.
WEKA Level Switches monitor the level of a liquid and report the signal of the limit level further for processing. This applies to the surface of a liquid or the interface between two liquids.
The built-in float body, equipped with magnets, which floats up when the level is reached, switches one or two potential-free contacts.
WEKA float switches were originally designed for use on submarines, where they monitor the bilge (dead space above the keel). Here, absolute reliability and durability are required to meet the highest demands. In the bilge of a ship in particular, a wide variety of liquids accumulate, against which the float switch must be corrosion-resistant. Quick and uncomplicated maintenance and, if necessary, replacement is possible via flameproof connectors, because the bilge is usually very difficult to access. Shock strengths of up to 400g speak for themselves and underline the robust design.
For use in hazardous areas, associated electrical equipment must be used which limits the energy entering the hazardous area. For this purpose WEKA offers switching amplifiers which also meet the other environmental requirements of the applications.
Among the product's advantages are its durability, designed to last for decades, and low maintenance requirements. For example, there are virtually no wear parts - yet floats can be reordered.
The requirements in the submarine market are so high that no standard covers them. In addition to the usual requirements of the European Union (CE) with regard to the Low Voltage Directive and EMC, applications in European explosion protection (ATEX) can also be served.
Declarations of conformity / certificates generally according to CE and especially according to ATEX as well as various references for submarine applications.
Many years of experience in this field enable us to make customer-specific modifications in compliance with all otherwise given requirements and prerequisites.
