1940: From Vision to Reality

Arthur Welter and August Karrer took the bold step into independence and founded WEKA GmbH for lead fittings and lead valves. What began with a vision grew so quickly that larger manufacturing facilities were needed after just two years. The foundation for further growth was established.

1962: The First Breakthrough

The first patent for magnetic level indicators marked the turning point: WEKA specialized in measurement and control technology. This decision would shape the company's DNA for decades to come – precision in critical applications.

1978: Entry into Cryogenic Technology

The first cryogenic valves left the production halls in Bäretswil. WEKA specialized in a niche that demanded extreme precision and highest material quality. A decision that would make WEKA a future global market leader.

1979: The Leap Across the Atlantic

With the licensing agreement for WEKA SureSite magnetic level indicators in the USA, WEKA proved its international caliber. The first step into global expansion – Swiss quality reached international customers.

1991: Home Found

The move to the new building in Bäretswil, 25 km southeast of Zurich, created the foundation for today's WEKA. Here, in the heart of Switzerland, the company continues to develop and manufacture solutions for the entire world.

2018: Sustainability as Standard

The second-best rating from EcoVadis confirmed: At WEKA, top quality and sustainable business practices go hand in hand. Responsibility for environment and society is not just a trend, but a lived corporate philosophy.

2020: New Dimensions

The largest cryogenic valve ever developed set new standards: 3 meters long, 1.2 tons heavy, DN250 for 4 Kelvin cold helium. At the same time, WEKA modernized the entire production for shorter delivery times and highest efficiency.

Today: Tradition Meets Future

80+ years after its founding, WEKA stands for what the founders once aspired to: Swiss precision for critical applications worldwide. With 60+ employees, 40+ partners in 100+ countries and one quality standard, WEKA continues to develop the tradition.

From lead valves to cryogenic technology – the journey continues.
